Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, (FPRC) April 30th, 2014. Chiba University wad selected to participate in the next European Solar Decathlon competition culminating in Paris France in 2014. This is the second Solar Decathlon for the team and they are bringing their prior experience along with further innovation to their design to this year’s Solar Decathlon Europe. Their proposal, RenaiHouse, was developed by students from various faculties working towards the common goal of creating a new type of house that addresses the various social and environmental issues facing the world in general and Japan in particular. In January, first prototype of RenaiHouse was exhibited as part of the Enemane House exhibition as a part of Smart Energy Week. The results of this test build lead to a redevelopment and rebranding of the house. Since then the home has been redesigned, assembled, disassembled and is on route to Paris, France for the Solar Decathlon.
